Liturgical Ministry
Consider joining our team of Talented Ministers in service to one another as we utilize the talents and gifts God has given us! Your participation in any of the ministries will be a blessing for our St. Anthony Parish Family! Contact the Parish Office, 440-288-0106 to be put in contact with the correct coordinator of our Liturgical Ministries.
Adult Choir
Sings at 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays during the school year and on special occasions.
We are very proud of our choir, yet we can always use new members. We also welcome cantors and musicians. We provide training for those interested in cantoring.
Art and Environment
The Art and Environment Ministry calls parishioners to share their creative talents to enhance our beautiful church environment. The purpose of this ministry is to design and arrange settings that add to our celebrations and welcome our congregation.
The church’s liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time provide guidelines for our choice of arrangement, colors, content, and placement.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Communion Ministers assist in the distribution of Christ’s Body and Blood at Mass. Both species of communion (bread and wine) are offered at St. Anthony.
The requirement is that ministers be fully initiated and in good standing with the Catholic Church. Ministers are asked to state their Mass preference, Saturday at 4 pm or Sunday at 10 am, and the coordinator uses these requests when developing the schedule.
A Minister of Holy Communion goes through a Diocesan Training Program. Formation sessions are available on the Diocese of Cleveland website.
Lectors
The Lector Ministry is an opportunity for parishioners to share their talents in public speaking as they reach out to the congregation through our weekly Mass readings. Lectors proclaim the word of God at all the weekend Masses, Holy Days, and liturgical celebrations throughout the year. How the Word is proclaimed makes a difference in the attentiveness of the community.
The Coordinator of Lectors will train all lectors on a one-to-one basis. As ministers of God’s Word, lectors provide nourishment for the soul by proclaiming the Words of everlasting life.
Sacristans
The Sacristan Ministry calls parishioners to offer their time to prepare the church for worship. The ministry cares for all the church wares and goods necessary for our liturgies and rituals.
Sacristans, under the direction of the pastor, are responsible for the sacred vessels, opening the church daily, setting up for all Masses, cleaning up and putting away all items after Mass, and maintaining all supplies needed for our worship services. Sacristans are needed daily and weekly.
Ushers
The Usher Ministry calls parishioners to greet the congregation and attend to Liturgical needs, such as collecting the people’s monetary offerings, assisting communicants, and being available for the Presider or others who may need assistance before, during, and after the Mass. Fellowship is an important characteristic of a successful Usher.
