About the Parish

St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Lorain, Ohio is a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Cleveland and has been witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the East Side of Lorain since 1923. We are a vibrant parish of about 400 households, and have an active school with Preschool through Eighth Grade as well as a Parish School of Religion for public school students. From the very beginning St. Anthony Parish was served by the Conventual Franciscan Friars, and is named for one of the most famous Franciscan saints. St. Anthony’s became a Diocesan Parish on July 1, 2010.

WE ARE A PILGRIMAGE CHURCH FOR THE JUBILEE YEAR OF ST. FRANCIS

Year of St. Francis Jubilee Prayer

St. Francis, our brother, you who eight hundred years ago went to meet sister death like a pacified man, intercede for us with the Lord.

You recognized true peace in the Crucifix of San Damiano, teach us to seek in Him the source of all reconciliation that breaks down every wall.

You who, unarmed, crossed the lines of war & misunderstanding, give us the courage to build bridges where the world erects borders.

In this time afflicted by conflicts & divisions, intercede so that we may become peacemakers; unarmed & disarming witnesses of the peace that comes from Christ.

Amen.
