ENGLISH & LANGUAGE ARTS

English & Language Arts class is where St. Anthony students take part in reading, writing, listening, speaking activities. The goal for our students is to not only become readers and writers, but more importantly to develop a love of reading and writing. Our dedicated teachers plan activities that require students to read and write daily. Their lessons are structured so that students are talking about books, writing about books, and exploring their world and other worlds through good adolescent literature.

Our school uses McGraw-Hill’s Reading Wonders series. The Reading Wonders program is uniquely designed to move students ahead seamlessly – whether in the core classroom, participating in English language development instruction, or benefiting from intervention support. The program focuses on an Essential Question, vocabulary, skills, and strategies throughout a given week.
