VIRTUS TRAINING

What is VIRTUS?

VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies programs designed to help prevent wrong doing and promote “right doing” in regards to children within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk in regards to children, and improve the lives of all those who interact with children in the Church.

To whom does this apply?

  • All those employeed by St. Anthony School & Parish
  • All CYO and Junior Hoops Coaches
  • All Parent Volunteers including field trips, Secret Santa, room parent, etc.

Why do I need to be VIRTUS trained?

Following the directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), all Diocese of the United States must require the religious institutions associated with those Diocese to protect the lives of our children by requiring all adults who interact with children. This directive is accomplished through the VIRTUS program, by requiring all adults who come into contact with children, through religious institutions, to meet the following steps:

  1. Attend an in-person VIRTUS training. These are offered throughout the Diocese of Cleveland at different times and locations.  To register for a training, click here.
  2. Turn in copy of Certificate of Training to alonsov@stanthonylorain.com. Be sure to include why you are registering.
  3. Be fingerprinted. There is no charge for the fingerprinting. To set up an appointment, email alonsov@stanthonylorain.com
