STEM

STEM

Students in Pre-Kindergarten-8th grade participate in STEM classes once or twice a week for 40 minutes. In the STEM lab, students learn lessons that contain elements of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math.

Some of our recent lessons:

HOUR OF CODE

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade all participated in this year’s HOUR OF CODE. The Hour of Code is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming.

Our students didn’t stop with one hour of code! Through websites like Scratch.com and Code.org, St. Anthony students continue learn the basics of coding!

Students using computers

SIMPLE MACHINES

Students are using LEGO education kits to explore simple machines. The kits include motors that allow students to explore how to create and improve structures.

Students working with Legos

CARDBOARD GAMES

Students recently created their own arcade game using cardboard pieces. Working in pairs, they had to plan the concept of the game, create rules & instructions, and then physically build the game. Finally, students tried out each other’s creations!
