Student Life

Opportunities to Learn, Lead & Thrive

At St. Anthony of Padua School, we nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Students grow through hands-on learning in our STEM and IDEA Labs, creative expression in art, and leadership in the National Junior Honor Society. Athletic programs like CYO sports and Junior Hoops promote teamwork and confidence.

With after-school clubs, digital tools, and free busing, breakfast, and lunch, every student has the chance to thrive in and out of the classroom.

National Junior Honor Society

Honoring Excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character

What Is NJHS?

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization recognizing exceptional middle school students. More than an honor roll, NJHS acknowledges students who consistently demonstrate the core values of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.

Membership in NJHS not only celebrates a student’s achievements but also encourages continued growth through school involvement and meaningful community service. NJHS chapters are active across the United States, its territories, and Canada.

Eligibility Requirements

Students in grades 6–8 may be invited to apply based on their academic and personal achievements:

  • Academic Requirement:

    • 6th Grade: GPA of 3.67 after the first semester

    • 7th & 8th Grade: GPA of 3.67 from the previous school year

  • Additional Requirements:
After qualifying academically, students must submit an information sheet highlighting their experience in the areas of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. GPA alone does not guarantee membership.

Selection Process

Submitted applications and teacher recommendations are reviewed by the St. Anthony NJHS Faculty Council, an anonymous group of staff members. This council determines which students meet the standards for official induction. The council also oversees ongoing membership and may dismiss students who no longer meet the NJHS criteria.

NJHS Activities

Members actively participate in service projects and leadership-building opportunities that reflect the five core NJHS pillars. These experiences help students grow both personally and within the school community.
